What is special about the grapes in every bottle of Renteria wines is the source, the terroir. The vineyards are in prized appellations such as Stags Leap, Mount Veeder, Carneros, Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast.
To avoid in-transit temperature extremes during the summer months, we offer 2nd Day Air. We may also delay shipments if the heat is excessive.
The 2009 Chardonnay went through malolactic fermentation and represents the Carneros region perfectly – with nice fresh acidity, and light mineral, stone characters. This has a nice aroma of crisp apple, pear and floral with a long silky finish. Not too buttery or over oaked.
Our 2008 has all the varietal and regional components of a typical Napa Valley Carneros Pinot Noir. It is grown in a warmer area, thus ripening earlier and more fruit comes through. The plush aroma is complex and bursting with lots of bold fruits of raspberry and strawberry jam, while the palate is velvety, smooth and rich, and full but not over-extracted.
Russian River Pinot Noirs are beautiful wines; this one is more Burgundian than our other Pinots, characterized by a soft, velvety, and very lush mouthfeel. Our 2008 is typical of this appellation with a mouthwatering structure that lingers on the palate with a long finish and softness. Both complex and integrated, it is a very pretty wine. It has an elegance that is both refreshingly tart and subtle on the palate. The aroma is full of red raspberries and toasted nuts.
Pinot Noirs from the cooler areas of Sonoma tend to have bright, complex fruit aromas, and viscous, elegant palates. The 2007 Renteria Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is typical of this area with a crisp acidity, fresh and jammy fruit aromas, and a soft, seamless tannin structure.
This wine is a big bold Napa Cab. The Rowe Vineyard produces a much firmer wine with big, bold tannins. The Stags Leap wine is a very pretty, elegant wine with dark fruit aromas and soft, velvety tannins, and an abundance of acidity. The resulting wine has a rich depth of aromas, both from the fruit and barrel aging, with a longer mid palate and a full but soft finish with nice acidity.
The 2007 wines have an intense concentration and beautiful extract, but are also elegant, with balanced tannins. The Renteria Mt Veeder follows this style, along with a full body and silkiness. The aromas are full of black fruits with fresh jammy, licorice and vanilla notes. The supple tannins and excellent depth will allow the wine to age very well for the next decade or so.
Stags Leap wines tend to shine in years like 2007. The natural acidity from wines in the area is a perfect compliment to the intensity, of the tannins in a droughty year. Stags Leap wines usually have a soft plush texture in the palate, and this definitely still shows through the bigger tannins in the finish. The characteristic Stags Leap flavors are dark stone fruits and bramble berries. This berry aroma is especially present in the Renteria Cabernet.
